April Runs

Activities/Actions:

Ran outside more often and kept up with the pace. Anita, Cindy, and Yu-Hsiang joined me for couple runs. YH has agreed to go to run Taroko Marathon this year. So, we started training. Anita and Cindy have also pled to keep up with running. They are good runners!

Te-Ching joined Yu-Hsaing and I for a run one evening (the 22nd). We ran along my 3-mile route and continued to Taipei Public Military Cemetary, where we ran up hill and coming down by steps. We counted the total number of steps to be 650!

Puli Visit
For a weekend of April 4-6, I went to Sun Moon Lake area with P' David and his friends. We stayed at a guesshouse of National Chi Nan University (國立暨南國際大學) [read more on An Adventure on Formosa]. I went for a run around campus both two mornings of the stay. The runs were wonderful because the weather is very nice, cool and quiet. A friend asked. "why do you run every morning? Training for some races?" My answer was "I run for my health."

Bike to everywhere in Taipei
I still keep up with my biking. Biking in Taipei is not that bad after all... After the weather gets nicer, biking seems to be fun and fun... I biked to Songkran festival near Taipei 101, to National Palace Museum, and etc. My recent weekend long bike is to DanSui (淡水鎮) on the 19th. The total of more than 60 kilometers. It was a great bike [read more on An Adventure on Formosa].

Hike Tiger Mountain
On the 26th, Peiling and Robert, her friend, organized a hiking trip up to Tiger Moutain starting from HoShanPi MRT station. Tunghung came up from Xinchu to join the hike. It was a great hike with the friends! [read more on An Adventure on Formosa].

March Runs

Activities/Actions:

Bike back and forth home<->office every day...

After the first time running outside, the weather has been nicer and raining fewer, leaving more hours of dryness. I have been running outside and trying to get in shape. JJ ran with me once so far.

The 3-mile route along the river seems to be my only best track at the moment.

Joined Frank for a run on TaiDa Track once (the 23rd).

Bike Show and Tour de Taiwan (stage 7)

Yu-Hsiang and I went to an International Bike Show () at Nangang Exhibition Hall on March 15th. The entrance to the show was possible because of DaKwa, Yu-Hsiang's friend, who worked for a bike company in Tai-Chung. Before the show, we watched "Tour de Taiwan" Stage 7 in front of the exhibition hall. There was an accident just before the race was finishing up. A biker from Hong Kong won this stage race. The exhibition was very interesting with various new high-end-technology-equipped bikes. Thanks to DaKwa and Yu-Hsiang for taking me there.

Hike DaTun Mountain with Yoyo and Li-Ching
The next day Li-Ching took me to a tour of Yang-Ming Shan with Yoyo.. We did hike and various activities.. Check it out here. The hike to Da-Tun was very nice; no sunshine at all.. :) Yo-yo was on our shoulders for most of the time. He is very strong and a good hiker!

February Runs

Activities/Actions:

Running once a week--Often, I can run outside too. JJ said "if you want to run, you have to get wet." And, it is right! Running in Taipei during these days comes with rain (whether you want it or not). Recently, the weather is getting nicer, though. This makes my biking safer. :-) However, I still wait for a right moment to run outside..

Still, I do not have a membership card for the gym... But I do pay NT$50 to get in once in awhile.

During Chinese New Year, I got a chance to see sunshine down in Fong-yuan and Tai-chung... I took a chance to run around the city in addition to the biking trip we had in Fung-yuan. See a note at An Adventure on Formosa.

Bike chain was broken.

My bike chain was broken on February 27th (Friday). It was good that it happened just when I started to bike out from home. So, I took a bus to Sinica today. Yu-Hsiang has helped me find a place to repair it and MS's brother helped checking the price. I fixed the chain and also met a Thai friend at the store. He has a very cool bike and invited me to go to bike with them during weekend because they have been biking around the city almost every weekend if the weather is nice.

First Run in Taipei

Activities/Actions:
Ran with Yun-Huei on the track of Sinica Gym

Stat: N/A

Course condition:
The track is too short... :( I do not like it.. but first, I thought it was OK, but the end it was not.

How I felt:
(the 5-point scale)
Physically ...
Mentally ...
About my nutrition ...
About my sleep ...

How hard did I work?
(the 10-point scale) ...

Note and reflections:
Since I arrived in Taipei, it has been raining every day and all day. But the rain is not heavy, just like sprinkle all day. This made it hard to run; however, I have been biking to work and back every day. It is only take about 15 mins from where I live. Wet but there is a warm shower waiting, so it is fine.

Running today is a bit tired since I haven't run for such a long time since I ran last... I need to keep up running a bit by bit. Good running to Yun-Huei.
